YAY!! Amanda Holden gives birth to a baby girl

Lovely, weepy talent-show judge Amanda Holden gave birth to a healthy baby girl on 23 January. Amanda and husband Chris have named her Hollie Rose Hughes, which a nice, normal, and very pretty name. Hollie is a sister for Amanda's daughter Lexi, 6.

Amanda gave birth after checking herself into hospital two days previously for observation. Spokeswoman Alison Griffin stated that although Hollie Rose was a healthy 6lb 1oz, Amanda had been "in a critical condition for the past three days."

Although she had commitments to film for the new series of Britain's Got Talent, Amanda's condition was such that her fellow judges carried on without her while she stayed in hospital.

It's definitely better safe than sorry in these cases, especially as Amanda suffered the traumatic stillbirth of her son at 7 months pregnant last year.

Best wishes to the Holden-Hughes family!

Beyonce's latest joyful gift to the world

After birthing the holy child, Blue Ivy Carter, Beyonce has now received an even greater honour.

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia has discovered a new kind of horse fly, and have, because of its large, golden rear, named it after the queen of everything herself, Beyonce.

The researcher who named the fly said of his decision:

"It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly’s abdomen that led me to name this fly in honour of the performer Beyonce as well as giving me the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy [looking at insects and stuff] – the naming of species."

Welcome to the BeyBe!

So, the fabled coming of the blessed child has finally happened!

Reports are now swirling that Beyonce and Jay Z have welcomed a baby girl, as Bey gave birth by scheduled caesarian section on Saturday 7 January.

There has been some confusion across the Twitterverse about the name - I initially reported it was Blue Ivy Carter, and was then corrected to Ivy Blue...but now it seems that "close friends" of the couple are confirming that the name is indeed Blue Ivy!

I actually like the name Ivy, and I guess I can cope with Blue as being part of the grand old celebrity tradition of giving your child a 'different', 'interesting', 'stupid' name.

Well, regardless of name confusion, date of birth confusion, fake pregnancy rumours and all the other craziness that has surrounded the almost holy pregnancy of the great Beyonce, congratulations to the new parents! I'm sure they'll do a great job, as they've managed to do the unthinkable so far by keeping their private lives private. Long may it continue for the Carters, although I do want some baby pics asap please!

Kate Middleton sparks pregnancy rumours in Copenhagen

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, sparked rumours that she might be pregnant yesterday in Copenhagen.

The royal fashionista refused the offer of tasting the peanut paste used in UN food parcels. Prince William, the Danish crown prince, and his wife happily ate the food, which is used to help people in famine-stricken areas.

Doctors advise pregnant women to avoid peanuts and all their by-products in order to prevent any allergic reaction.

Kate's spokeman confirmed that the Duchess herself is not allergic to peanuts, further adding to the rumour mill that there may well be a royal baby on the way.

If Kate is pregnant, then that child, regardless of whether it is a girl or a boy, will be in line to the throne thanks to recent law reforms that give female children the same succession rights as males. Exciting!

On the other hand, Kate's famously tiny waist showed absolutely no sign of expansion, so you know...she might just not like peanuts.

Beyoncé has some serious pregnancy cravings!

Ever since she completely upstaged everyone at the VMAs by announcing her pregnancy, Beyoncé's been swanning around Croatia and Italy, being all glamorous and stuff.

Even though she's the human physical embodiment of perfection, she's still succumbed to the one thing that no pregnant woman can control - cravings.

A source has been blabbing about Bey's baby munchies, claiming that she's been chowing down on oreos with gerkhins, milky way bars with hot chilli sauce and bananas dipped in ketchup. Totes vom-worthy.

On top of this, the source also seemed pretty grossed-out that the megastar was breakfasting on croissants filled with melted Dime bars...I think that sounds delicious, and I might even have it for my Sunday breakfast in the morning!

Kim Marsh Tells Twitter Critics To Stick It

After the terrible loss of her stillborn son Archie, born at 21 weeks, and the traumatic struggle for the health of her daughter, born early at 33 weeks, Kym Marsh was in no mood to entertain those on twitter who questioned her decision to bottle-feed baby Polly.

Due to the fact of Polly's early birth, Kym has said she cannot breastfeed her daughter as she is not producing enough milk. However, this revelation seems to have provoked a backlash from pro-breastfeeding activists. One tweeted that Kym was choosing "vanity over [her] children" and their health, with one going so far as to suggest that Kym cared more for mintaining the look of her boob job than nurturing her children.

Kym hit back at the comments, saying "Shut up you absolute idiot. You know nothing so go be bitter elsewhere!"

She added "I stayed in bed for three months to bring my baby into this world after losing one so do not dare EVER criticise me. For your information you idiot I did breastfeed for as long as I could, I wasn't producing enough for her to come of her iv and was advised by HER consultant to give formula so we could get her off the drip, not that I need to explain myself to u."

After the spat, Kym messaged her supportive followers, saying "Guys getting a bit tired of nasty pieces of work on twitter. So sad they have to hide behind a computer! Questioning my dedication to Polly! Done everything in my power to get my little girl here. Some nasty pieces of work, honestly."

She's right. Only sad cases would criticise her when she has worked so hard to bring a heathy baby into the world. Breast feeding is best if it is possible, but it it really awful to criticise someone for trying their best and not being to do something which is so publicly proclaimed as the ultimate bonding mechanism between mother and child.

Best of luck in bringing up little Polly...I'm sure you'll be amazing!

Mariah Has Her Babies!

Congratulations to Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, who have welcomed their twins into the world today. It's a double whammy of celebrations for the couple, as today also happens to be their fourth wedding anniversary!

Mariah , 42, had her little'uns at an undisclosed LA hospital, where her baby girl arrived first weighing 5lbs 3oz, and was shortly followed by a brother, who weighed in at 5lbs 6oz.

In true Mariah fashion, the family listened to her classic track 'We Belong Together' after the birth.

There are no deets on the names as of yet, but Nick told People magazine in January that their kids will not be having strange celebrity names. He said "They won't be crazy names like Carburetor or something," he promised. "But they're definitely unique."

The Truth About Angelina's Tattoo

After she was photographed near the Libyan border doing her usual humanitarian thing, there were rumours of a new pregnancy or adoption for Angelina Jolie.

Angie has a tattoo on her arm which represents the coordinates of the place of birth for each of her six children. The pictures show a new, seventh line beneath the others, which is what initially sparked the rumours. However, a source has come forward to state that the new addition is actually the coordinates of partner Brad Pitt's birth in Oklahoma.

Guess the brood of six is just about big enough for now!

K-Fed To Have A Baby Girl

K-Fed and his pregnant girlfriend Victoria Prince have announced that she is going to have a baby girl! Another one to add to the already staggering pile of pregnant celebs (she counts as a celebrity, I think. Ish...).

The ex-professional volleyball player (that's Vicky, not Kev...) has revealed that they have decided to name the baby Jordan, because they wanted a name that could be used for either sex. I, however, think it's much more likely that the couple are naming the little'un after Britain's own glamour girl, Jordan (AKA Katie Price). She is a true inspiration.

Lady GaGa To Be Godmother To Elton's Baby!

When he mentioned this on his Queen-bashing SNL appearance the other day, the audience thought he was joking. He wasn't. Elton John and husband David Furnish have announced that Lady GaGa is going to be the lovely baby Zachary's godmother!

GaGa's outspoken stance on equality and LGBT rights as well as AIDS awareness has ensured that she has become a close friend of Elton and David, who share similar charitable and social interests. She seems to be the perfect fit to help raise Zachary if something were to happen to his parents, as she shares so many of their values.

Congrats to them all, and I hope GaGa enjoys her new position within the family!

Babies, Babies Everywhere!!

The celeb world is positively booming with sproglets at the moment, or at least with mums-to-be! TV Presenter Myleene Klass tweeted an impossibly cute picture of herself with her daughter Ava, and her newborn baby Hero.

The Beckham family is also due to be expanded further, with David revealing that his kids want to name the new baby Justine Bieber Beckham! Apparently, little Romeo is adamant that the little girl will be named after the tween sensation, although it has been widely reported that Victoria likes the name Luna.

In other Spice baby news, Mel B is also preggo, which has been said to have started a feud with Victoria due to thunder stealing and inappropriate twittering...damn those hormones! Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, is the third pregnant ex-spice girl, making them really rather a fertile girl band altogether!

Rachel Zoe gave birth just over a week ago, to son Skylar. To be honest, she only ever looked vaguely pregnant, and kind of a little uncomfortable, but she's certainly happy to have her little fella here! She tweeted that her life was now complete, with her husband and son. Such a lovely sentiment!

Finally, also looking just about ready to pop are Natalie Portman and Selma Blair.

Good Luck, ladies!

Kylie Could Use Surrogate

Kylie Minogue has revealed that she may choose to adopt or use a surrogate when the time comes for her to have a baby. The 42-year old hottie is concerned that after beating breast cancer a few years ago, she may not be able to conceive, and that if she does, it may be dangerous for both herself and the baby.

Speaking after being questioned about her sister Dannii's baby, Kylie stressed the importance of family and children in her life, although she said that she had no current plans to marry her boyfriend of three years, Andres Veloncoso, who is 10 years junior to Ms. Minogue...cheeky.

Egyptian Baby Named.....Facebook!

O.K, so I know that this blog is all about celebrity news and so on, but this story causght my eye due to it's total amazingness. And if celebrities can give their children ridiculous names (I'm looking at you Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin) then why can't randon Egyptian revolutionaries?

After the extensive use of social networking sites to instigate and coordinate the recent revolution in Egypt, a man named Gamil Ibrahim has named his newborn daughter after the mother of all social netowrks, Facebook. He spoke to local newspaper Al-Arham, expressing "his joy at the achievements made by the January 25 Youth." The baby had received many gifts from local people, many of whom were involved in the protests, and everyone seems very pleased at the name dedication.

Defos my story of the day.

A Baby Girl for the Beckhams!

Victoria Beckham has made no secret of the fact that she has always wanted a baby girl to complete her brood. Luckily for her, it looks like her dream is finally going to come true! The papers are today reporting that she has discovered after her most recent scan that she will be having a girl. A family friend told reporters that “David and Victoria are over the moon. This will be their last child and to be told they are having a girl is the icing on the cake for the Beckham clan."

Can you IMAGINE the baby clothes? I hope that everything goes well for them for the rest of the pregnancy, as I'm sure it will. I have always had a soft spot for Victoria, whenever she does interviews she's very self-deprecating and funny.

Congrats!
